Getting An Advanced Biblical Degree At Scofield Biblical Institute

Why Should I Get An Advanced Biblical Degree At SBI?

There are many requirements that the Bible speaks upon for leaders in the church. One of the most important requirements is that they must be able to teach (1 Tim 3:2). This means that they must be a competent Bible teacher, knowing the facts of Scripture, and they must understand not only what the verses in Scripture say, but also what they mean. This understanding includes the whole counsel of God.

All the authors of the entire Old and New Testaments wrote by the guidance of the Holy Spirit (verbal inspiration) and those 66 books are completely inerrant and infallible in the original writings. We at SBI are dedicated to teaching the Bible as Jesus and the Apostles knew and understood it as opposed to a particular viewpoint. We teach what God’s viewpoint is of the Scriptures trusting in the fact that all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness …(2 Tim 3:16).

This is one of the major differences between SBI and most seminaries in existence today. We have heard from pastors that state that by taking these classes, the people they are teaching realize the importance of what the pastor or teacher has learned because he is sharing God’s Word with them in detail. Not only are they becoming more qualified but it is recognized by those they are mentoring, that God is working through them.

SBI is a follower of Dispensational Interpretation – We believe that Scripture is to be interpreted according to its grammatical and historical context, including that God, Who does not change, deals in a different manner with the Gentile nations, the people of Israel, and the God-created body of heavenly saints called ‘the Church’. We believe that all who are saved of all time are saved entirely by faith in Christ, either looking forward or back to the cross. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 11:1, 2; 1 Corinthians 9:17, 10:32; Ephesians 1:10, 2:11-22, 3:2; Colossians 1:25).

Dr. Renald Showers provides an insightful definition of Dispensational Theology when he writes, “Dispensational Theology can be defined very simply as a system of theology which attempts to develop the Bible’s philosophy of history on the basis of the sovereign rule of God. It represents the whole of Scripture and history as being covered by several dispensations of God’s rule.

With this in mind, we structure our courses to give the best teaching and understanding of all of God’s Word. We want our students to have a  sincere desire to study the subjects essential for Christian service and to carry that desire to their elected ministries. This is an important factor when people realize that what you are teaching is really divine – it is really from God – not just you talking about something from God.
