‘Terrorist state’ Israel must be stopped, Turkish President Erdogan says, adding it has ‘crossed all limits’
Humanity should take “swift” action to resist Israel’s “aggression”, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said as Ankara reported that Turkish news agency journalists and UN-backed schools were hit by Israeli strikes in Gaza.

“This terrorist state that tries to plunder a city like Jerusalem, which houses places that are holy for Muslims, Christians and Jews, has crossed all limits,” Erdogan said on Friday, referring to Israel.

“It is imperative that UN Security Council takes steps to ensure peace in Jerusalem in line with decisions of the General Assembly,” the president said, speaking to the members of his Justice and Development (AK) Party during a video conference. Turkey is ready to actively support any initiative announced by the UN, he said, adding that his nation “will not be silent” even if the rest of the world ignores the developments in Gaza.

Twitter users askHis words came amid an ongoing violent standoff between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip that saw the Israel Defense Forces launching massive airstrikes against Gaza in response to the Hamas militant group’s rocket attacks. The Israeli strikes claimed the lives of more than 100 Palestinians, including 27 children, according to local health officials.

Hamas militants’ rocket launches were mostly intercepted by the Israeli air defenses, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including a child.“It is a duty for all of humanity to resist [Israel’s] aggression against Palestinian cities and Jerusalem,” Erdogan said, adding that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should particularly take a “concrete” stance on the issue. Otherwise, the organization would simply discredit its own existence, he added.

The OIC announced earlier that it would hold an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss the situation. The violent conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militants was sparked by an Israeli court case regarding the eviction of several Palestinian families from a neighborhood in East Jerusalem.

The move first sparked massive protests that saw clashes between the demonstrators and police in several Israeli cities as well as in Jerusalem. The tensions then led to a rocket attack by Hamas and a military response by the IDF.

Erdogan also gave a scathing rebuke to the officials who supported Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Those who chose to remain silent or backed Israel “for political and ideological reasons should know that their turn will come one day” as well, he said.

Earlier, leaders of several Western nations including Austria and Germany expressed their support for Israel’s right of “self-defense.” Leaders of France and the UK also earned praise from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for supporting Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile Erdogan said that he discussed the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza with the leaders of some 20 nations, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier this week, Moscow called on Tel Aviv to immediately stop the violence and halt the settlement of the Palestinian territories. So far, however, Netanyahu said that the violent standoff between Israel and the Palestinian militant groups is “not over” and vowed to “reach” Hamas militants “everywhere.”

“We call on the international community to intervene swiftly for Israel to stop these attacks, which will cause further loss of civilian lives,” the ministry said.

U.S. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki delivers remarks during a press briefing at the White House in Washington, U.S., April 14, 2021

i24 News – US Secretary for Israel-Palestinian Affairs Hady Amr has landed in Israel on Friday, as part of Washington’s efforts to deescalate the most intense bout of fighting between Gaza-based Islamist terrorists and the Jewish state since 2014.

“Israelis and Palestinians deserve equal measures of freedom, security, dignity and prosperity,” the US Embassy in Israel tweeted Friday, with a picture of Amr disembarking in Israel.

Top US officials, meanwhile, have affirmed their support for Israel’s military operation against Gazan militants who have rained down over 2,000 rockets on southern and central Israel since Monday.

“Israel has the right to self-defense,” Press Secretary Jen Psaki told journalists, stressing that the US was focusing on de-escalation. “It’s important to remember that Hamas is a terrorist group. They don’t represent the views, the families and the Palestinian people who are suffering. There’s no excuse for the rockets.”

Israel’s massive air raid beginning late Thursday — which saw some 160 fighter aircraft pound Hamas’ terror tunnels in the Gaza Strip, and neutralize a large number of the militant group’s members — may bring the Jewish state closer to ceasefire talks to end the confrontation.

“In the last 24 hours, we have attacked underground targets. Hamas thought that it could hide there but it cannot hide there,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday. “Hamas senior officials think that they can flee from our strikes — they cannot flee. They are paying, and will pay, a very heavy price for this. This is not yet over. We will do everything to restore security to our cities and our people.”

“We believe there’ll be still a few more days of fighting, but Hamas is paying right now a price, and that will result in negotiations. Right now Israel is refusing to negotiate a ceasefire, rejecting efforts of the UN, US and the Egyptians,” according to the security official.

IDF Soldier Seriously Wounded in Jaffa, 5th Synagogue Burnt in Lod

Further violence erupted Thursday evening in several mixed cities of Israel, as intense fighting continued between Israel and Palestinian terrorist…

The Hamas tunnel operation started with the deployment of Israeli ground forces that were prepared and staged on the Gaza fence border on Thursday for a potential ground offensive. The preparation efforts by the Israeli army reportedly prompted Hamas commanders to instruct masses of the terrorist group’s members to enter the tunnels to get ready for the ground attack. This was exacerbated by confusing statements from the IDF spokesperson unit that “air and ground troops are currently attacking in the Gaza Strip.”

Then, throughout Thursday night, about 160 IDF aircraft from 12 squadrons struck over 150 underground operations in the northern Gaza Strip. During the same operation, ground forces, artillery and armored troops of the Israeli army, which were deployed along the Gaza fence, fired hundreds of artillery shells and dozens of tank shells against targets in the Gaza Strip. As a result, many miles of the strategically important Hamas underground tunnels were severely damaged and partly destroyed.

“Such significant damage to places that the enemy is surprised by may lead to the enemy’s desire to stop,” IDF Brigadier General Omer Tischler, who commands the base from which the air force attacked, told Israeli outlet N12 Friday.

“How does such an attack take place? It starts with very accurate intelligence, very clear planning of where we want the armaments to be, from an operational understanding that brings about 150 fighters to attack, a lot of skilled technical staff to make sure every bomb gets in place,” he said.

IDF fighter jets on Friday also struck a tunnel shaft in the southern Gaza Strip belonging to the Hamas terror organization, which contained servers and military equipment.

“The tunnel shaft was located adjacent to a kindergarten and a mosque, proving once again how the Hamas terror organization deliberately places its military assets in the heart of densely populated civilian areas. The IDF takes all possible precautions to avoid harming civilians during its operational activities,” the IDF said in a statement.

Since the beginning of operation “Guardians of the Walls” began on Monday evening, Hamas fired 2,000 rockets from Gaza at Israel, with close to 1,000 being intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system.
