FM Zarif due in Moscow soon

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to visit Moscow soon, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Speaking to IRNA, Khatibzadeh said Zarif will discuss bilateral and regional issues.

Iranian foreign minister is also supposed to review the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Earlier on July 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Moscow that Tehran-Moscow relations are expanding exponentially.

“Qatar is now in a hurry to join the normalization of relations [with Israel] and the Deal of the Century,” declared a Palestinian official.

The level of concern is rising in Ramallah after Qatar accepted the American Deal of the Century as a basis for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A joint statement by the US and Qatar on Friday on the strategic dialogue raised tensions in the Palestinian Authority and there is a growing understanding that Qatar is becoming an important link in the implementation of American policy, says a source in Ramallah.

The joint statement made by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani comes after lengthy contacts between the US and Qatar. The statement includes, among other things, a clause in which Qatar recognizes the American vision as a basis for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Following the news on the joint statement and a series of memorandums of understanding accompanying it, Fatah spokesman Mוnir Ja’ub said that “Qatar is now in a hurry to join the normalization of relations and the Deal of the Century.”

Various elements in the Palestinian factions condemned the Qatari move and stated that it was a continuation of the trend of “normalizing relations with [Israel],” while various media outlets praised Qatar for being the first Arab state to accept the Deal of the Century.

On the other hand, PA head Mahmoud Abbas’ spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said that the official Palestinian position will be published later, apparently out of a desire to avoid criticizing Qatar, and so far the PA has not issued any official statement on the matter.

A few weeks ago, Abbas banned criticism of the Qataris for their involvement in the mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas.

Following criticism from Palestinian sources, the Qatari Foreign Ministry issued a statement rejecting the incitement campaigns and emphasized Qatar’s siding with the Palestinians and underscoring their right to an independent state.

Saeb Erekat, a senior PLO official, tweeted and expressed appreciation for the Qatari position regarding the need to “end the Israeli occupation” and bring about their independence, but behind the scenes, various sources say, there is growing concern that Qatar is expected to join the agreement with Israel.

The American-Qatari statement, also as published on the US State Department website, completely ignores the Palestinian Authority while expressing concern about the civilian situation in Gaza.

The United States also expresses appreciation for Qatar’s role in promoting initiatives with Sudan, Somalia and for its involvement in the Taliban issue, but did not address the Palestinian Authority at all.

The statement also deals with the United States’ agreement to sell $26 billion worth of weapons to Qatar and a series of memorandums on education, culture, sports, energy, aviation and the fight against terrorism.

In this context, it should be noted that the United States considers Hamas a terrorist organization.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Major General Hossein Salami, said on Saturday that “the Iranian military forces are able to seize all American bases in the region, in the event of any war.”

The IRGC commander claimed, as reported by the Tasnim Agency: “We are able to seize all American bases, as the force that we have positioned is based on the most pessimistic scenario of the war with America and its allies. We, in view of victory, have distributed our capabilities and prepared our equipment for a long-term war.”

The commander of the Revolutionary Guards warned that “any war against Iran will inflict severe losses on the United States that it cannot bear,” stressing that “the Islamic Republic has strengthened its military capabilities to wage a wide-scale war at sea, air and on land against America and defeat it.”

Salami expressed his conviction that no power in the world can endure the war against his country, saying that “U.S. President Donald Trump’s hinting that Washington might resort to military options against Tehran is nothing but an exaggeration stemming from his lack of accurate military knowledge.”

Major General Hossein Salami also warned that Iran “has thousands of battalions on the ground. If it moves, it will set fire to all the American bases … When we hit Ain Al-Assad , we assumed that the Americans would react, and we had prepared hundreds of other missiles, except that the missiles are a small part of our capabilities, we are not the initiators of war, except that we have the ability to pursue and destroy the enemy. “
